Gas Leak In the Boro, Illegal Burn In the Township
Wed. Apr 25th 2012

Tonight at 2022 Lyons Fire was dispatched to a residence on S Kemp St in Lyons Boro for a possible gas leak. Chief 35 (Keller) arrived on location took Lyons Boro Command. Crews investigated the residence as well as the connecting homes with a slight odor but no leaks evident to crews. Residences had been evacuated and UGI was notified to respond. Crews monitored the homes with no levels showing on the meters. At 2059 crews were notified of a large controlled burn in Rockland Township on Clay Valley Rd. Due to a burn ban as well as an ordinance of no burning after dark a crew broke away and responded with Tanker and Brush 35. Deputy 35 (Reinert) arrived on location and discussed the situation and the homeowner requested we extinguish the fire. UGI arrived on scene of the gas leak and released the fire crews on scene. Crews were cleaned up and available from both incidents by 2230. All Lyons units were out for these incidents.
